Charles E. Wilson Memorial Sculpture Garden
The Charles E. Wilson Memorial Sculpture Garden is located at Wilson Nurseries in Frankfort, KY and was created to honor the founder. The sculpture, which is titled "Verve" is at the center of the garden and was designed and created by Melanie VanHouten in 2005. The surrounding gardens were also designed by Melanie and were installed in 2009. They are part of an ongoing, evolving work of art, which is the garden itself.

Charles E. Wilson
Founder and President of Wilson Nurseries
1979-2003
This cairn was patterned after both ancient and modern traditions of intentionally placing stones to serve as a memorial. The larger stones that were gathered for this cairn came from places that were significant in Charlie’s life. The smaller stones were collected from friends and family who will always remember his lively, energetic spirit. This sculpture is a symbolic gesture of giving back to him. It marks the strength, pure grit, forward movement of his vision, and love that he shared with all of us.
Charlie, we thank you.
