Frankfort Public Art People's Choice Award Winner

Delegate by Derek Ball receives People's Choice Award

Derek Ball's Delegate wins the Frankfort Public Art People's Choice Award! Derek lives and works in Lexington, KY and is an artist who has studied architecture and worked in urban design. Reflecting on Delegate, Derek states: “After a rehearsal dinner, I was looking across an array of vacant chairs, and they seemed to be a remainder, or a temporary artifact of a narrow event: a kind of record of, say, who was huddled and whispering, turned sideways laughing, or rigid and not speaking. I sketched these assemblies of chairs on a napkin, and began to explore notions of delegations, or congregates linked in this moment, yet disparate in their intent.”

Delegate is part of a temporary installation of sculptures in downtown Frankfort curated by Josephine Sculpture Park in collaboration with the City of Frankfort, Frankfort/Franklin County Tourism Commission, and Richard and Anna Marie Rosen. It will remain on exhibit until October 2023.

Most of the sculptures installed in this temporary exhibition, including Delegate, are for sale! Please contact JSP for more information.
