Public Art in Frankfort Available for Purchase

Last Chance to Make Public Art Your Own

Public art in Frankfort available for purchase, what you see is changing

When you take a walk or drive through downtown Frankfort you can’t help but notice incredible displays of art; large murals transform empty walls and sculptures bring vacant sidewalks to life. Did you know that many of these pieces are for sale, and that by design, the exhibit is temporary?  In October, many of the sculptures that have become a treasured part of the city landscape since 2021 will leave. However, most are available for purchase through their departure dates!

The pieces for sale include C-Note by Joe Allred, Delegate by Derek Ball, Seeking Shelter by Andrew Arvanetes, Seedlings 3 by Joe Hamilton, Enigma by Kevin Lyles, Formed to Fit by Jennifer Rubin Garey, Open Heart by Matthew Duffy, and Daddylonglegs and Hairstreak by John Parker. Due to a successful fundraising campaign, the Friends of the Paul Sawyier Public Library is purchasing Eggcited by Kimber Fiebiger! Call Josephine Sculpture Park at 502-352-7082 with interest in purchasing a sculpture. Purchasing art helps support artists and also supports JSP, as a percentage of sales remains at JSP for continued art programming.

Sculptures that will rotate out of the Arts Downtown exhibition and are not for sale include Cultured Stone by Antoinette Schultze, All This President's Men by Scott Ross, and AR-1916 by Jonathan Forrence.

Make sure to ring the bell on the sound sculpture called C-Note, located at 300 St. Clair, one last time before it leaves in October!  Beginning in November, the Arts Downtown exhibition will host all new sculptures that will remain in Frankfort until 2025. Josephine Sculpture Park manages the Arts Downtown calls for art, along with sculpture deinstallation and installation, as part of their Art in Public Places Program. This program curates and maintains public art not only for Arts Downtown, but also at Expree Credit Union and West Sixth Farm. Learn more about the Arts Downtown exhibition at visitfrankfort.com/art. Public Art in Frankfort would not be possible without the leadership of the Josephine Sculpture Park and dedication of the Franklin County Arts Council/FrankArts Jury Team. The project receives generous support from Richard and Anna Marie Rosen, City of Frankfort, National Endowment for the Arts, Expree Credit Union, Franklin County Fiscal Court, Frankfort/Franklin County Tourist & Convention Commission, Harrod Concrete & Stone, and the Kentucky Arts Council.
